Update 2023: La Mer will be closed in 2023 due to redevelopment of the area. It is not known when La Mer will reopen.
La Mer is one of the most popular Dubai hot spots in the area of beach and promenade. This is mainly due to the location right by the sea, the presence of a large and spacious beach with numerous amenities, several cozy restaurants and trendy shops. The developer of the La Mer concept is Meraas, which is also behind a number of other popular projects in Dubai, including City Walk Dubai, The Beach at JBR and Boxpark.
Boulevard and restaurants
The complete project of La Mer Beachfront has been delivered in stages and in 2017 the first phase with La Mer North and La Mer South was officially opened. These two areas include 130 shops, cafes and restaurants, a white sandy beach of no less than 2.5 kilometers long, a playground for children complete with trampoline park, various beach activities and water sports activities such as wakeboarding, kayaking and flyboarding. From the beach you have a beautiful view of the clear blue water of the sea and also a magnificent panoramic view of the impressive skyline of Dubai.
The beach is fully equipped, so there is on the 2.5 km long beach changing rooms, enough toilets with separate toilets for the disabled, shower cabins and special prayer rooms for men and women. In case you have been on social media all day and your battery is empty from your phone, you can charge it at one of the charging stations in La Mer, so you will never be without a battery. On the beach sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented, it is also possible to rent a special cabana where you can enjoy the beach in the shade and with some privacy. For the disabled and people with mobility problems, it is possible to rent a wheelchair for free in La Mer.
A beach without beach club is not a beach, therefore La Mer North and South also has its own beach club called Sea Spice Beach Club where you can enjoy delicious cocktails and mocktails, watch the sunset while enjoying a snack and a drink. Do you want to enjoy the sun, the sea and the beach in privacy? Then you can rent a private cabana on the beach of La Mer.
Facilities La Mer
As we have come to expect from other projects of Meraas, La Mer is beautifully landscaped with modern buildings which are alternated with large green borders, water features and fountains. In terms of style it looks a bit like the Beach at JBR complex making Le Mer the ideal location for enjoying sun, sea and sand and good food. Also in the evenings La Mer is the ideal location to relax on one of the many terraces of the restaurants and cafes. Enjoy the view over the sea from one of the many benches in the area.
The third part of La Mer which is also known as The Wharf was opened in 2018 and includes the Laguna water park where you can surf in a high tech surf park. Also in this part of La Mer you will find a cinema and even more shops and restaurants. There is also a hotel and various luxury properties to be found on the artificial peninsula off the coast.
Location and accessibility of La Mer
La Mer is located next to the Dubai Marine Beach Club resort and between Pearl Jumeirah and Jumeirah Bay on an artificially constructed piece of land of 1.24 million square meters of surface area. The project is also close to the new Etihad Museum, the Jumeirah Mosque and the Dubai Water Canal. La Mer is very easy to reach by car and taxi thanks to its location on Jumeirah Road. Parking is easy in the private parking garage of La Mer which has 1100 parking spaces. Parking costs 20 AED per hour, but if you buy something from 100 AED or more in one of the stores in La Mer you get the first three hours for free.
Public transport and opening times
With public transport it is possible to travel to La Mer, you can take the RTA bus with number 9 or 88. From some large hotels in Dubai and the City Walk shopping center a free shuttle bus goes to la Mer. The shuttle bus runs among others at Media Rotana, Atana Hotel, First Central and the Somewhere hotel in Al Barsha. There is also a shuttle bus from the Sofitel Downtown, Marrit Hotel Business Bay and the Renaissance hotel in Business Bay.
Because the beach of La Mer is a public beach, it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Keep in mind that it is forbidden in Dubai to swim in the sea after sunset. The shops of La Mer are open on weekdays from 10 am to 10 pm. On weekends the shops open from 12 am to 10 pm. The cafes and restaurants in the La Mer area are open daily from 10 am to 12 am.
