Dubai public holidays in 2025

The public holidays in the United Arab Emirates for 2025 have been announced by the country’s government. Although the list of public holidays has been set in november, exact dates of certain public holidays have yet to be confirmed. This is because, the beginning and end of Ramadan are determined at specific moon phases. The moon phases may vary, causing actual dates to differ from estimated dates. The exact dates may differ by up to 2 to 3 days from the initial estimate.

Dubai has a few public holidays each year. On public holidays in the United Arab Emirates, staff in the private and public sectors are off work. Below we have listed all public holidays in Dubai for you. The dates in brackets are the dates of the holiday according to the
Islamic calendar.

New Year’s Day

The new year starts with a long weekend, New Year’s Day will be celebrated on Monday, January 1.

Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3: Eid Al-Fitr (Eid Al-Fitr)

The fasting month of Ramadan always starts and ends on the first day of a new lunar month. Ramadan is expected to start in 2025 on March 31 to April 2. Eid Al-Fitr falls on Wednesday, April 10, according to the latest predictions. As mentioned earlier, these dates can still change due to the moon phases.

Dhu Al Hijjah 9 (The Day of Arafah)

The day of Arafah, also called Arafat day or the day of Arafa, falls on the ninth day of the Islamic month of Dhu Al Hijjah. In 2025, the day of Arafah falls on Thursday, May 30.

The day of Arafah is an important day for the Islamic pilgrimage, the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). The pilgrims on this day wear their white Ihraam clothes and stay on the Plain of Arafat from noon until after sunset.

Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12: Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice)

Eid Al-Adha is the festival of sacrifice, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice. The Feast of Sacrifice falls on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu Al Hijjah and is celebrated every year for three days in a row to conclude the month when Muslims go on Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) as pilgrims. On this day, Muslims ritually sacrifice an animal, usually a goat, lamb or sheep. In 2025, Eid Al-Adha starts on Saturday, May 31 to Monday, June 2.

Muharram 1 (Islamic New Year)

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. Muharram is one of the 4 holy months of the Islamic calendar in which fighting (including war and cruelty) is prohibited. In 2025, Muharram 1 will fall on Sunday, June 27.

Rabi’ Al-Awwal 12 (birthday of Prophet Muhammad)

Rabi’ Al-Awwal 12 is the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and is celebrated on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi’ Al-Awwal. In 2025, this day falls on Monday, September 1.
