The Dubai Ice Rink is an Olympic-sized skating rink located in the largest shopping mall in the world, the Dubai Mall. Those who have had enough of shopping can relax on the ice rink. It is not necessary to bring your own skates, the skating rink has 1800 pairs of skates in almost all sizes that are available for rent. Renting the skates costs 5 AED per person.
The ice rink has a capacity of 2000 guests and because the ice rink has Olympic dimensions, ice hockey and figure skating competitions are also regularly held. During those competitions it is of course not possible to skate, but the majority of the week the skating rink is open to the public.
The special feature of the ice rink in the Dubai Mall is the technology of the cooling installation. This makes the thickness of the ice three times as thick as the ice on an NHL ice rink. The ice rink also has a super-deluxe multimedia system with a 20-meter wide and 10-meter high LED screen on which, next to advertisements, various sports competitions are broadcast.
